First Spin is our weekly Harmonic Radio show where we scour the internet for brand new releases from independent artists. Our favorite part of putting this show together is finding true musical gems from artists that don't get the attention they deserve from algorithmic feeds or streaming platforms.

"my best / your worst" by Dani Rucker
“my best / your worst” is an intimate indie folk song about relationship that is doomed from the start. Possibly the best kind of relationship if you’re looking for songwriting inspiration, and this song proves it!
"Comfort Zone" by Gentle Hen
This is the next single off of the Northampton, MA indie rockers’ upcoming 8th album. Nostalgic and bouncy, “Comfort Zone” sounds like a bunch of old friends making music for the love of the game - and you’d have to love it to be this many records in!
"Only Home" by John Gillespie
Gillespie’s wistful “Only Home” features only acoustic guitar and his lightly vibrato vocals. It’s easy to imagine Gillespie performing this for a crowd that immediately gets quiet and attentive as the first lines fill the room.
"5star6two" by aylampoems
This lofi demo-style recording feels delightfully raw and intimate, as aylampoems keeps in the sound of instrument cables plugging in and even a song restart. Underneath the lofi is a wonderful voice and sense of melody.
"Fine Dirt" by Monte Tyler Hampton
From Hampton’s debut album ‘Southern Gothic’, “Fine Dirt” is folk/altcountry and full of tight harmonies and rootsy arrangement. Most importantly, the songwriting is top notch and we’re excited to see and hear where Hampton goes next.
"Desert Nights" by The Space Cadet
Ambient textures swirl and evolve behind an otherwise minimalistic acoustic guitar performance. These textures create an expansive space behind the guitar, encouraging the listener’s ear to drift and come back again.
"Tooth N Claw" by John Krasula
From Krasula’s upcoming album ‘JK & The Contraband: Volume II’, this jazz fusion track has a funky groove and some fiery guitar and alto sax solos. The best moments are found when the guitar and sax are playing off of each other.
