What is HARMONIC?

Harmonic is a new way to connect directly with artists and be rewarded for curating music you love. This new platform was built in response to the corporatization of the music industry, where artists are discovered via algorithms and invested in based on shallow metrics, and once-beloved music publications are shuttered or acquired, leaving the journalists who inspire music discovery without a way to earn for their recommendations.

As the name implies, we believe that a healthy independent music scene is brought about by harmony between artists and music fans working together to share great music. Artists decide how to value their music. Curators are rewarded for sharing music. And fans are able to support and have a deeper connection with the artists they love.

Harmonic has three core principles:

Help artists build sustainable careers on their own terms

All features on Harmonic are designed to help artists build their careers. We keep our fees as low as possible to run the platform. Artists own all of their fan data. We incentivize curators to share their favorite music. And we provide educational resources to help artists make smart moves in their career.

Curators are key to a healthy music industry

Harmonic’s affiliate links are a foundational part of our platform. Music curators and fans who leave recommendations can share links to Harmonic music and merch listings to receive a portion of the proceeds from the sale. We firmly believe that human curation is the best way to discover music.

Valuing every stage of the music creation journey

“Official" music releases are only the tip of the iceberg for most artists. Demos, live bootlegs, alternate takes all have value at Harmonic. While these types of releases might not feel appropriate on major streaming platforms, Harmonic provides a simple way to distribute these releases to the fans who value them most.

Founded by musicians and lifelong music industry professionals, Harmonic is a fully independent and private business. Our only stakeholders are independent artists, curators, and fans.

How Harmonic's Fees Work

There are two ways music is purchased on Harmonic:

1. Artist-Driven Sales

When someone buys directly from an artist’s page:
Artist: 85%
Harmonic: 15%
Mockup

2. Curator-Driven Sales

When someone buys through a curator’s recommendation:
Artist: 75%
Curator: 10%
Harmonic: 15%
Mockup
That’s it — simple and transparent.

Harmonic is privately owned, with no VC investment or corporate parent. All revenue is reinvested into improving the platform for artists and curators.
