Today, we’re announcing one of our first features that has been influenced by demands from artists – Digital Bundles.
Today, musical artists are creating more types of media than ever before as short form video platforms require consistent creative output to feed their algorithms. This has effectively turned musical artists into media companies.
With artists now having more content creation skills, it’s disheartening that most of that skillset is only going towards social platforms in an act of creating what we think those algorithms will favor and reach new audiences. This output is created at a financial loss with music videos on YouTube generating pennies and other social platforms paying nothing.
What if artists could channel their content creation skills towards a) a revenue-generating product and b) a format that is up to the artist, not the platform?
That’s what we’re trying to enable with our new bundles. On Harmonic, artists can now bundle videos, PDFs, images, and other music files with their releases - transforming a standard release into a fuller expression of the artist's vision.
We have purposefully built the system so that artists can interpret this however it makes sense to them. There's no standard combination of files and media types. Each release feels unique, resulting in a richer, more intentional way to experience the music.
To launch this feature, we worked with four artists to create unique releases that show off how these bundles can create a richer experience for fans.

Includes:
Indie artist Summer Winter created an expanded version of her album The Speechless Place. She invites listeners into her creative process with handwritten pages from her lyric journal, behind-the-scenes video, a demo recording, and an a cappella recording.

Includes:
San Francisco’s The Society of Rockets present the definitive collection of their Tough Trip Through Paradise album. The Original Master Files for Vinyl are the Side A and Side B tracks used for pressing their vinyl. Vinyl mastering is approached differently than mastering for other formats, with more care taken to the dynamics and the low end. Society of Rockets also included visual media: Spotify Canvases that were produced by band member and Lucasfilm Chief VFX Editor Lorelei David as well as fliers designed by band leader Joshua Babcock for the LP's release show at the historic 4 Star theater in San Francisco.

Includes:
Americana artist Rae Isla debuts the demo for aftermath in her new release. Fans may recognize this song as her go-to show opener at recent performances. Rather than waiting for the studio version (being recorded this November), Rae invites fans to join her in the process of bringing this song to life. Included with the acoustic demo are handwritten lyrics and an exclusive full band demo.

Includes:
Progressive funk rockers Mosey Beat show why nothing beats the live concert experience. Packaged with their latest album Breakfast for Champions is their Only Jams EP. This four-track EP includes over 30 minutes of live jams from their shows.
To us, these bundles represent the “real” release of these recordings. Compared to the days of physical packages and liner notes, we as music fans have gotten so used to a music release consisting only of tracks on a streaming platform accompanied with a 1-inch by 1-inch cover artwork. We hope this feature inspires artists to create holistic representations of their art and invite fans to take greater ownership by purchasing the release.
This is just the next step as we continue to build and refine Harmonic. We are always looking for feedback on the platform. Please don’t be afraid to DM us on Instagram or message us via our contact form.
